WELCOME TO MACCLESFIELD DISTRICT EMERGENCY PRIMARY CARE CENTRE

If you need URGENT medical care when your local surgery is closed, contact your usual surgery telephone number. An answerphone will give you a recorded message including the number to contact out of hours.
When your call is answered, you will be asked some basic questions by a nurse (including telephone number and postcode).

  • The nurse may give you advice regarding your medical problem.
(It may be appropriate for you to be advised to wait until the next available time to see your own GP.)
  • Or ask you to attend the Emergency Primary Care Centre.
  • Or the duty doctor may decide to visit you at home if they think it is medically necessary.

Please remember that you will be seen more quickly if you attend the centre, which is properly equipped and the care you receive will be first class.

The Macclesfield District Emergency Primary Care Centre is situated at the Macclesfield District General Hospital, immediately opposite the A&E reception desk. please do not wait at this desk, as there is a video intercom, next to the doors of the centre, to press on arrival to gain access.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST TELEPHONE FIRST before attending the centre. please do not use the service for routine medical problems. These will be treated by your own doctor during normal working hours.
